There is a whole gastronomic world of Romagna beyond the piadina, the tagliatella and the still unexplored blue fish. This culinary journey starts from Valmarecchia and then continues in Valconca, the valleys that frame Rimini in an extraordinary landscape.
It begins from Verucchio and entering the village you will immediately feel the smell of the bread of the old bakery.
We immediately start the culinary exploration with the lunch, a typical tasting in the butcher of the village with its typical products. After the tasting lunch, you can dedicate yourself to the visit of the village with its beauties: the Malatesta Fortress and the Archaeological Museum, inaugurated in 1985, preserves absolutely unique finds from the Verucchio necropolis of Villanovan-Etruscan era (9th to 17th century BC).
The evening will be discovering Santarcangelo. You will enjoy it by dining in one of the most autochthonous wineries, the ‘Collina dei Poeti’, or in the most historic restaurant of the village, the Sangiovesa. Both will tell you the soul of this village and the mixture of emotions and creativity of its inhabitants.
The second day is dedicated to the discovery of the high Valmarecchia: Talamello and Sant’Agata Feltria.
Sant’Agata Feltria is one of the most characteristic towns of Montefeltro rich in legends and fairy-tale appearance, with its Rocca Fregoso, which takes its name from the last lordship who lived in the tenth century. Here you will not miss the stop to taste the precious white truffle.
Back you will visit the village of Talamello, the capital of the Fossa cheese here called Ambra di Talamello. The visit and tasting at the pit is a must and the presentation of the production of Fossa cheese is the only way to know its ancient value and unchanged over time.
The town is also known for the splendid Crucifix of the ‘300 attributable to Giovanni da Rimini (student of Giotto) and since 2002 it has housed the Gualtieri Art Gallery Museum “Lo splendore del reale”.
After the days to discover the Valmarecchia, it’s time to explore the other valley of Rimini, with a sweeter landscape, fairy-tale castles and specialties from Romagna.
Opt to visit the charming medieval village of Montefiore, which seems to embrace the imposing Malatesta Fortress that dominates the entire valley to the sea. The village is scattered everywhere with traces and historical memories surrounded by an extraordinary landscape, fauna and culture.
…a pleasure for the palate and for the eyes!
