Back to the Roman Empire: Arimum and Classis.
The discovery of the Roman Rimini starts from the Visitor Center, a multimedia and interactive path that shows the secrets of the ancient city with a ciceron of excellence: Julius Caesar. Together with our guide we will present the structure of the ancient Ariminum: the thistle and the decumanus, the forum, the theater, the amphitheater and the ancient port. You will be amazed to know that the amphitheater was similar in size to the Colosseum and that the city, precisely because of its nature as a colony, enjoyed a certain autonomy from Rome which allowed it to expand and to enrich itself.
We will then depart to the great monuments: the Arch of Augustus, the Tiberius Bridge until we discover what life was in Roman times visiting the archaeological complex of the Domus del Chirurgo and the reconstruction of a Roman house inside the rooms of the museum. At the end an aperitif with tasting of local products or, optionally, picnic in the Tiberius Bridge to be tasted all together, sitting pleasantly on the grass.
On the second day we will leave for the ancient port of Classis. A different perspective to know Classe, already known to most for the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare, presents itself with archaeological site of the Ancient Port of Classe. The tour starts in the Visitor Center, where a merchant of the time tells the history of the city through multi-wall and floor projections. Continue walking next to the harbor warehouses and the paved road that crosses the area, where there are 10 illustrative panels with thematic insights and 5 perspective slabs that show reconstructions of architectural elements no longer present. Lunch in a restaurant with typical Romagna menu and free time to visit the city of Ravenna. You can miss the marvelous Unesco Tour.
