The Crucifix by Giotto

The Temple of Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, ruler of Rimini from 1432 to 1468, rises where the Church of S. Maria in Trivio and later, from the 13th century, the Church of S. Francis once were. The latter was decorated with paintings that were lost, except for Giotto’s Crucifix dating back to early 1300s, the artist’s only work in Rimini. The convent and cemetary, where some of the Malatesta were buried, were built near the church.
